Lo scrittore presente e prolifico. La modernità di Galeazzo Gualdo Priorato
La modernità di Galeazzo Gualdo Priorato
Abstract
A survey on Italian early modern historiography shows two major issues. On the one hand, a clear-cut distinction has been postulated between history as a literary genre and other forms of printed communication like leaflets or gazettes. On the other hand, scholars have rarely adopted a European perspective, by focusing rather on specific geographic contexts and cultural traditions. Serving as an introduction to the volume La ‘res publica’ di Galeazzo Gualdo Priorato, this paper undermines the genre distinction to stress the overlapping areas instead, and suggests a comparative study dealing with both Bourbon and Habsburg Europe(s).
