3 • Climate and Environment in Prehistoric Yunnan
Abstract
This chapter compares ancient and modern climates and environments in Yunnan, examining changes in precipitation, temperatures and vegetation belts from the early Holocene until their stabilisation at the end of the first millennium BCE. It also explores how these changes may have influences the development of farming by creating suitable conditions for crop cultivation.
