Abstract

In 1945 there was a railway accident in the province of Jujuy (Argentina) that received the name of «The Iturbe tragedy», where 36 people died. In spite of its magnitude, it is currently a tragedy that has been largely forgotten. This investigation seeks to recover the memory of this event through archival work, testimonies and the concept of echo, exploring how the train, although an absent entity, continues to resonate in the Quebrada de Humahuaca.
