Abstract

The ‘Trampolín de la muerte’ is the popular name for a highway that connects the Andean and Amazon regions in southern Colombia. Through ethnographic and archival research on the past and present of this infrastructure, I investigate the forms of violence that it generates or symbolizes, the type of political and affective relationships that it produces among those who travel along it, and how through these relationships the inhabitants of a frontier territory imagine and dispute their relationship with the state.
